Provided Isaac Asimov, and his 3 laws, are in place, I think I would definitely be more afraid of people than robots. AI is just gaining a foothold and has a long way to go before it becomes scary by anyone's definition. Be that as it may, I don't think humans will ever have the ability of creating consciousness. AI - yes; consciousnes - heck no.
